Robot Mower 4G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth: What Connectivity You Actually Need
Robot mower connectivity is easy to confuse with navigation. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 4G can help set up, monitor and control a mower, but they do not necessarily tell you how the mower determines its physical position.

Bluetooth
Bluetooth is commonly useful for nearby setup and direct communication with a mower. Its short range makes it different from remote internet access.
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi can connect the mower or charging area to a home network for app functions, updates and cloud services. Coverage at the docking station can matter even when the mower’s navigation itself does not depend on Wi-Fi.
4G cellular
Cellular connectivity can support remote status, anti-theft location functions and other cloud features away from home Wi-Fi. On some systems it can also carry correction data for network RTK positioning.
Mammotion’s 2026 example
Mammotion’s current U.S. terms state that 2026 LUBA 3 AWD and LUBA mini 2 AWD products include a 4G module with three years of free data. Mammotion says its 4G service can support remote operations, status queries, anti-theft functions and access to its iNavi NetRTK positioning service. The company also states that 4G is not mandatory, which is an important distinction between an included service and a hard requirement.
Network RTK can make data terms important
If a mower receives positioning corrections over the internet, buyers should understand what happens after any included data period ends. YRL records navigation method, connectivity and subscription/data-service terms separately so “no antenna required” does not hide an ongoing service requirement.
What to check
Before buying, check whether the mower requires Wi-Fi at the dock, whether cellular hardware is included, the length of any included data service, renewal pricing if published, what features stop without cellular service, whether mapping/navigation relies on network RTK, and what anti-theft functions require an internet connection.
Connectivity is part of ownership cost and long-term usability. It deserves a place in a model comparison alongside battery, warranty and navigation.
