Ultra 2000 or Ultra 2000 AWD?

Both target the half-acre class, but they are materially different machines. The standard Ultra 2000 carries a 45% maximum slope rating and rear-wheel-drive architecture. The 2000 AWD is rated to 80%, uses four driven hub motors and has a wider dual-disc cutting system. A relatively moderate half-acre yard may not need the AWD model’s additional terrain capability.

How much work can the Ultra 2000 cover?

MOVA rates the Ultra 2000 for up to 0.5 acre of mapped lawn. Its published 5 Ah battery provides approximately 70–90 minutes of mowing per charge, with about 65 minutes to charge, while the company lists standard and efficient daily mowing coverage of roughly 0.3 and 0.4 acre respectively. A half-acre rating therefore does not mean it cuts half an acre in a single charge or within a short afternoon. Grass growth, separate zones, charging trips and travel corridors can extend the schedule. Measure the actual grass area and decide how often you expect the entire yard to be maintained.

The 7.9-inch cutting width and rear-wheel drive distinguish it from the wider dual-disc AWD variants. MOVA lists a 45% maximum grade and up to 1.6 inches of vertical obstacle crossing, but wet soil, sharp turns and boundary edges deserve a separate inspection. LiDAR and AI vision remove the need for a buried wire or RTK station; they do not remove the need to map no-go zones and observe the first runs. Where dense shade or buildings complicate satellite reception, this navigation approach is worth investigating, while the actual route still needs testing.

Half-acre map, daily throughput and headroom

The 0.5-acre number is MOVA’s maximum mapped area for the standard Ultra 2000. Its published comparison chart gives about 0.3 acre per day in standard mode and 0.4 acre per day in efficient mode. Those are manufacturer estimates under different settings, not an assurance that a full half-acre will be maintained in one day on every property. The 5 Ah battery and 70–90 minute per-charge range help explain the step above the Ultra 1000, but the dock cycle, route length, grass growth and number of zones still determine how a weekly plan feels in use.

Sketch the actual mowing area and ask what must be completed between uses of the lawn. A wide open area is different from the same square footage divided by a house, paths and several narrow connecting strips. If the grass area is near 0.5 acre, preserve scheduling margin instead of counting on the upper limit. For a smaller lawn, the Ultra 1000 may meet the requirement; for a half-acre lawn with steep required routes, compare the 2000 AWD’s traction and cutting system separately from its identical area rating.

Passages, boundaries and the finished cut

MOVA lists narrow passage support at 23.6 inches or wider for the Ultra series. Check turns before and after a passage and the route back to the charging station. Dual-map and multi-zone settings can help organize separate areas, but a saved map does not create a physical crossing where a fence, road or impassable step exists. Set virtual exclusions around water, beds and drop-offs, and supervise the first full run and return to the dock before relying on a routine schedule.

UltraTrim 1.0 has a movable disc for closer edge cutting; MOVA describes less than two inches of grass remaining along certain raised edges and on-boundary cutting at suitable flush edges. Check those claims against your actual edging, since irregular corners, tree rings and steep border turns may still need manual work. The adjustable 1.2–3.9-inch cutting height should also match your preferred turf height. These practical details may matter more than a small difference in the headline area rating.

Connected features and future parts

The Ultra 2000 product page lists TrueGuard video and patrol functions, app-based zone controls and a Link Module service. Verify the current package, connectivity terms and privacy settings if those features influence your decision; they are separate from the mower’s ability to cut the yard. Keep the full model name, serial information, original blades and included charging-equipment details for future service. Our model-specific parts finder uses a direct blade listing where the model fit is documented and tagged searches for unverified batteries, wheels and charging parts. A search result alone does not establish compatibility.

Included equipment and ownership

The U.S. Ultra 2000 product page is the reference for the current package and specification details. Confirm the charging station, power supply, installation hardware, spare blades and any promotional extras in the exact order; do not assume that an optional second charging station for dual-map use is included. Replacement blades are consumables. If your grass area is comfortably under half an acre but the steepest route is near the 45% limit, compare the Ultra 2000 AWD for traction rather than choosing capacity alone. See our yard inspection checklist before starting a new mower.

Warranty

MOVA’s current U.S. warranty policy lists three years for the mower main unit/motor and two years for the battery pack. Consumable blades are excluded from ordinary warranty coverage.
